Message from the Webmaster
The Georgia State Defense Force Headquarters Web (THIS WEBSITE) is
rapidly becoming the primary communications tool for our troops and new
volunteers. Everyone in a position to provide
content to this website: please take an active roll in keeping your content
current and "up-to-date".
As your Webmaster, it is both a privilege and a responsibility to
publish and maintain the Georgia State Defense Force

Policies for publications and links
This is the official web site of The Georgia State
Defense Force (Headquarters - GSDF). and is published solely to
support the conduct of official Georgia State Defense Force business and
dissemination of information directly related thereto.
Official policy of the Georgia State Defense Force Website:
does not accept or display information that essentially consists of
advertisements for civic, commercial or other privately sponsored
activities.
Informational articles as well as Public Affairs Office coverage of past, current or
future GSDF events may also be posted. Generally, postings that promote
individual unit efforts such as recruiting or other unit specific activities
or that attempt to promote the primacy of one unit over another will not be
accepted. This site operates in the public domain and as such, no classified
materials will be posted.

To submit revisions to GaSDF.COM page(s), the quick and
easy procedure (what we gotta have) is:

Tell us what to revise and where to place the revisions. When making
multiple revisions, you may wish to copy the page contents into Word.
Then just type the revisions and change the text color to
RED. (Don't forget to send the file with
your request.)

your revisions will be ignored or deleted. Contact info means:

TEXTURAL CONTENT
ALL TEXTURAL
CONTENT (announcements, awards, captions, brigade pages: ALL TEXT)
should be submitted in
final format as it is to
appear on the page. Please review documents for:
spelling, punctuation, capitalization, grammar, etc.
before submitting. Please remember to use
your SHIFT KEY for text composition. Text of any length consisting of
ALL CAPITAL LETTERS OR all lower case letters will be rejected.
If your CONTENT is to be published as a "stand alone document," it
should be submitted as an Adobe Portable Document File. Occasionally,
we may be able to convert short documents (1 or 2 pages) for you, but
lengthy documents for direct publication must be reviewed and converted to
Adobe PDF prior to submission.

content and corrections may be included within the email message area.
A popular method is to quote the existing text followed by the revised/corrected

LONG TEXT CONTENT
Lengthy text
content should be attached as an MS Word or Adobe PDF file if you wish to
preserve formatting (numbering, bullets, bold or italicized text,
indentations, etc.). Please include a brief description of the attached file(s) within
your email message.

Events are to be provided in a "4 column format" (NEED NOT BE IN A
TABLE FORMAT) and is to include: Date - Mission/Event - Location - POC.

PICTURES
Please complete
the following "prep work" before sending photos:

paragraphs to introduce and describe the event pictured

photos for publication

to no more than 800 x 600 pixels @ 72 DPI (web standard resolution)

caption for each photo

publish (photo_gallery.htm, etc)

STORIES/NARRATIVES WITH PICTURES
Stories and narratives with pictures should be submitted
as an MS Word or Adobe PDF file. Photos are to be embedded
within the document where they are to appear in the final layout (with
captions). ALSO: photos should be sized and down-sampled for the web
(72 DPI) and included as individual JPG attachments. Please include a
brief overview of the narrative and attached file(s) within the email
message.
Please submit photos for the web site as attachments in
original JPG format ONLY (NO ZIPed FILES).
Please include captions for all attached file(s) within
the message area.

PRESENTATIONS:
If your content needs to be viewable or accessible
as a presentation or printable document, please submit MS
PowerPoint or Adobe PDF files. Please include a brief description of the
attached file(s) within the email message.

FILE SIZE LIMITS
Many Georgia State Defense Force members
and potential members access the web via dial-up connection (V-90, 56 Baud,
etc.). With this in mind, we ask that no files larger than 1.5
Megabytes be submitted for publication. Larger files will be
returned for additional compression, splitting, etc.

ACCEPTABLE FILE FORMATS
We continue to see new virus attacks in the form of variously
named attachments, many with statements such as "Virus Free", "Security
Checked," etc. Please include a brief description for all attachments.
ONLY PDF, DOC & TEXT files WILL BE ACCEPTED without prior approval.
