105th GaSDF Band has new Director

LT Anthony

LT Edward Anthony joins the 105th GaSDF Band as new Director. 2LT Anthony is a music teacher at Settles Bridge Elementary School in Cumming, Georgia. He received B.S in Music Education with a minor in Tuba Performance from Tift College of Mercer University in Macon, GA in 1983. LT2 Anthony is also a minister, having received a Masters degree in Church Music, majoring in Ministry and minoring in Conducting, in 1989 from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. He has extensive experience in leading church choirs, bands, and orchestras. He has also performed with several symphony orchestras and ensembles.

About the Band

The Georgia State Defense Force Band is a volunteer musical organization that includes amateur and professional musicians. 

The band was formed in 2005 and performs music for civic and military events. 

• Recent performances in Georgia communities include concerts for:
  • Martin Luther King Weekend (MLK Natl. Historic Site, Atlanta)

 

• Fabulous 4th (July 4th) Festival (Conyers)

• Memorial Day (Fairburn)

• American Legion Post 160 (Smyrna)

• Previous military musical performances include:
  • the Georgia State Defense Force Commanding General’s promotion and change of command ceremonies

  • the Georgia State Defense Force Band change of command ceremony

  • Changes of Command ceremonies for the
    • Naval Reserve Intelligence Command at the Naval Air Station, Marietta (Georgia)

    • 148th Support Battalion, 48th Infantry Brigade, Georgia Army National Guard
